Despite multiple waves of protest, Lagartija Studios finally released the controversial The Demoralization of Bill Cosbi. The film first caused uproar when actor/comedian William H. Cosby raised concern over the nature of the movie. "Bill Cosbi"'s producer, Steve McCuvanaigh affirms that the film is not a case study piece on William Cosby's life but a film about a fictional character named Bill Cosbi.

The film is about the life of a hermaphrodite called Bill Cosbi: It starts by showing Cosbi's early years as a child and his/her confusion about his/her sex. Then the film focuses on Cosbi's first career move - doing hermaphrodite standup in all exclusive Boise, Idaho clubs. He then struggles with a heroin addiction and is then saved by a man/woman Patricia Muarana (whom he/she later marries). It is then that Cosbi lands a deal with NCB for the aptly titled "The Cosbi Show". The show shows a positive portrayal of an affluent hermaphroditic family living in Boise, Idaho. Later on the movie focuses on Cosbi's "demoralization": How he/she starts picking up homeless cows and molesting them to the point of religious exult in the form of mundane perversity. The film ends with Cosbi finding redemption through the teachings of the Reverend Billy Graham.

"What the f*** is going on here!" said William Cosby's agent, Matthew Wehttam. "This is slander on the rep on the part of the Lagartija Studios against my client and close friend, William H. Cosby, a man I admire to the point where I would fight to the death with any man or man-woman who dear defiles the name of such great a man who made us laugh and love and cry at the same time. Damn!"
